Curriculum Updates:

Readers' Workshop: We are finishing up our nonfiction unit study. Readers will spend the next two days creating posters using their note taking strategies and presenting our learning to our classmates. We will spend the end of the week reviewing word solving strategies and partnership strategies.

Writers' Workshop: Students are continuing to visit poetry centers. At the end of the week we will learn how poets use line breaks and repetition in their poems.

Word Study: We will continue to work on using all of our words from this year. Our goal is to not only write them isolation, but also spell them correctly in our writing. We have also been adding many new poems to our poem binders!

Math Workshop:  This week we will spend some time solving true and false equations. For example:

2+2=4+1  is false
10-2=4+4 is true

We continue to reinforce the equal sign means "the same as" and that both sides of an equation need to be equal.

Social Studies: We will be making maps of the route we followed on our field trip and discussing what we learned from our community tour. We will also be reading the book, "City Kid, Country Kid" and having a whole class debate on which community we would prefer.
